Thursday 9th December: Extreme Heat as a Driver of Food Insecurity

Our research team at the Food Systems Handbook has done a literature review into the impacts of extreme heat on food insecurity. At this roundtable we will discuss the current impacts of extreme heat on farm productivity, how this may worsen with climate change, and which interventions are particularly promising to safeguard food security.

More about the preliminary research our team have done is available here; we expect crop diversification, irrigation and genetic modification to be amongst the most promising interventions.

This event will be hosted twice on the same day to accommodate people in different time zones:

  • For Asia and Africa/Europe the session will start at 8 am CET (or 3 pm Singapore Time).
  • For the Americas and Africa/Europe the second session will start at 11 am EST (or 5 pm CET).
